The Kyocera Lingo

Lingo

You know, as someone who barely remembers high school, I have to admit that I'm maybe not the guy to talk to about text messaging. I can do it, but I'm not fast at it, and it's not my preferred method of communication. My fingers are fat, and my arthritis makes them clumsy. So, no matter which input method I use, texting is not my forte. I end up texting things like "lets go to vmch at diflsj," which really doesn't seem to do anyone any good. On the other hand, even with the arthritis, I'm a very fast touch typist on a keyboard.

If... if only there were some way to meld a keyboard and a phone. If only there were some genius that could figure out how to combine the two, and yet make it conveniently portable...

Lingo Open

But, wait - the geniuses at Kyocera have created the Lingo, which does just exactly that!

I have to tell you, this is a fun phone. It's a standard (although thick) cell phone, so you can make a regular call very quickly. It has all the features you've come to expect from a cell phone, including a phone, voice-activated calling, Web browsing, etc. etc. etc. But it also flips open sideways, and gives you that full keyboard, which I personally appreciate so much.

If you look carefully at the keyboard, you'll see that it not only does upper and lower case, it also does symbols. My daughter and all of her friends can text message like they were in a speed contest, even with a regular phone number pad. With the Lingo, I can keep up with them! And I can use commas and exclamation points! Which, actually, I like to do! Oh, and did I mention that this phone actually has a flashlight? That's right - no more fumbling with your key! I really, really love this phone.

Of course, prying it out of my daughter's hands involves distracting her with chocolate. I can see that this little review is going to cost me money!

Seriously, if you're looking for a new phone that has every feature you've ever wanted and the features you never thought to ask for, the Kyocera Lingo is your phone.
